Seems to be true. 80kph on ordinary 2 lane roads.

That'll suit Kevin the Meteor Minor then.

Another reason not to go to France then or at least base a holiday there. I see that the proponents of this policy have trotted out the “speed kills” old chestnut. It doesn’t; driving/riding too fast for the prevailing conditions and/or beyond one’s capability may cause a collision in which someone might die. Who says pedantry is dead? 50mph is too slow for my C5 if I’m touring and wish to reach a destination at a reasonable time.

Didn't we use to have a blanket 50mph limit on non-urban single carriageway roads in the UK in the wake of the fuel crisis a few years ago? This was eventually eased to the current 60mph national speed limit. The Americans had a 55mph limit.

Yes, the US had a 55 limit that coincided with my lovely Dunstall Honda 750 and my loss of licence for a long time.
Now the usual speed is 10 over the 70 posted limit. Not much fun on the Bullet, so I'm considering adding a sportster since they're cheap here.

Now now, you all know the first thing anyone in a flat cap does when they sidle up to an RE is point at it with the stem of their pipe and say "So is this a proper one or one of those Indian copies?".

A question which I have taken to answering with "Yes.".

Sad to hear that you are selling your Bullets; binary, Alan R.

I love it when bigots sneeringly ask me if my bike is an 'Indian replica'?

I have a bittsa hack hybrid made-up of parts spanning 6 decades from 1951 to 2007. Part Royal Enfield made Indian, Indian made Enfield, Indian made Royal Enfield, and Royal Enfield made for India.

Tank badges say its an Indian.

Most Indians who are into bikes are not sure what to make of it...

I tell them it's a genuine 1960s British motorcycle that just happened to have been built in India in 2006.

A **good** Bullet bitsa is a joy to have, but if it's bodged/thrown together with crap parts you'll find out pretty quickly, it will certainly er... magnify any weaknesses in the original design. ISTRC Binary's 350 was shipped from India with various problems.

@ Tim, anglo-indian bitsas have a particular appeal for me, in my case it must be something to do with how good the 500 AVL engine and five speed box (right foot shift converted) look sat in the later Redditch frame, and how much fun you can get watching it do the purists' heads in...
