Hi guys--------Here we go then}-------- http://www.electrexworld.co.uk/acatalog/SR11.html ------- and this}--- https://www.aliexpress.com/w/wholesale- ... l1100.html

As you can see it's a universal type......Did our hosts say the wiring MIGHT have to be changed or WILL have to be changed ??...it makes a difference..Quite clearly it's a "Standard" type of solenoid with a bolt-on, fused outlet for auxilliary items.......When Papasmurf blew the 30Amp fuse he must have attached to the wrong spade terminals........You'd have thought they would hve been different sizes to avaoid that sort of thing...Oh well....all sorted now..

I have a feeling the failure of the original solenoid has caused some other problems. I suspect I will have to call in an expert in electrickery. (Which won't be for a few days.)

Oh dear.......Given the circumstances that might not be a bad idea......No disrespect to your good self but if you are unsure about the electrical system then that's the way to go......and this is the guy to do it for you}-------- http://www.motorcyclewiring.co.uk/ -------- He's been featured in a couple of glossy magazines a while ago and is well known in the Bike world..

Alan R, I have an 12 volt electrickery expert living nearby. He may look like a cross between Chewbacca and Catweasel in leathers but he does know what he is doing. (He is also Rat bike constructor.)

The cross between Chewbacca and Catweasel in leathers got the starter solenoid wired in after many checks with his multimeter. Bike now starts, (much to the surprise of the electrickery expert,) the only casualty is the neutral light, but that was intermittent anyway.
I decided whilst the seat and the electrickery cover were off to remove the sludge trap. (Whoever designed that sludge trap and the position of it should be taken somewhere quiet and neck shot.)
After many expletives and tears from me the trap is now in a small bucket of detergent. (There wasn't much sludge it it despite it obviously never having been removed since 2006.
