Still running the original fuses? Wouldn't hurt to change them for quality ones.
Have a serious look at the male and female halves of the white block connection where the Reg/Rec joins the main loom.
Check for black discolouration/erosion from prolonged internal arcing caused by one of the spade connectors being pushed out of the block when the two connector halves were joined together.
The continual arcing from this 'loose' internal connection eventually erodes the spade tips away until the sporadic charge previously received by the battery is no longer able to reach it.
