Hi Peter------- I'm on my 4th 500cc iron barrel Bullet and it's my second "Bullet '65".........I'd recommend this particular one as it has both electric start AND the 5-speed gearbox AND it's left foot change ( One down, 4 up )......As you've probably seen on here there is a wealth of International help and experience to call on PLUS}--- Our hosts have all the parts and accessories that any major manufacturer would be proud of.......

From Telford I ride in Shropshire and the Welsh hills, down to Malvern and Hereford or up to North Wales and even out to Leicester or the Derbyshire Dales on my "Red Baron"... I take a small tool kit, my mobile phone and my Insurance Recovery No...As the 350 / 500 both share an almost identical chassis there is very little to choose in the handling or comfort department..... but as someone has already mentioned the 500 has the "Longer legs" going uphill......The 350 never had an electric start although I believe you can retro-fit the 5-speed box.............Whatever you choose do think about joining your local owners group to enjoy some mutual ride-out fun come the summer......Here's my Red Baron enjoying the view at Lake Vyrnwy Dam, Wales last Autumn......Image

Felix, I did the same as you. I sold a stage 2 tuned 900ss and bought another 350 bullet (and an old series 1 XJ6). Riding home from work on the M23 about 0200 one summer morning the speedo went past 150mph and I had one of those moments of clarity and grew up in an instant. The Duke was sold the same day.

Stick with the Ducati. After owning a Royal Enfield for 2 years now I often wish that I had kept my Yamaha.

Its just an opinion and before everyone jumps on me for saying this I run both a 2005 350cc and a 2006 500cc.
The 350 rarely sees the light of day.
Both are great on country lanes and both sound fantastic, BUT, and its a big but, at some point the empty country roads join up with A roads and its no fun at 50mph with an articulated lorry on your tail and you can't do a thing about it.

The 500 can plod at 30mph all day but it can also cruise at 60mph, need I say more?

Get a 500, you won't regret it.

My only Enfield is a 350. Though it's a lovely "soft" engine and it plods around country lanes in a most delightful manner it is under powered.
Hills and/or headwinds soon have you in third gear.

------- and it'a BIG gap between 3rd and 4th, isn't it ??........A Bullet'65 will give you }---- A 500cc engine, an electric start, a 5-speed gearbox.........What's not to like ??
