Eight airvents (Redditch remains)

It's interesting, the things you can spot when looking. I was admiring this old photo of the RE factory in Redditch, when I spooted something that I had not noticed before.

It's them 8 sticky-up airvents and the building to their right...

which seem to have survived...

Finally, google street view condescended to show me some pics...

Anybody know what was produced here? From the airvents, I hazard a guess around painting or paint drying.

There is a drawing in Anne Bradford's book "Royal Enfield, the story of the company and the people who made it great" on page 70 which is a map from memory by a worker, Gerald Coley. It doesn't fit very well with the photo but you can see the Test Track at top right which helps a bit. According to this those vents could be Hardening Shop, (possible) Experimental Department (unlikely) or Polishing (also possible). I would have thought paint too but this is shown as to the top left, near the lower part of the Test Track.

I suppose the hardening shop would produce a lot of heat? But then, other processes would.
