Hi Mark M the things that have been done to this motor have been done over the past 43 years of other owners of this motorcycle. The motorcycle was first registered in 1964. The motor is an early copy of a Redditch motor. When it left the factory I think that the engine would be as good as the Indian factory could produce at the time. All the bodging that has happened to it has been done later by Indian mechanics that thought up ways of keeping it going for as little cost as possible. It could be fixed up again but I am not prepared to spend any thing more on it. I will put the later model engine in and have a reliable motorcycle again. The old motor did a fairly good job as bad as it was. After importation into Australia it did 15,000 KM before putting a conrod through the front of the crank cases. The second owner had the damage repaired and had the bike running although he never rode it any where. I bought the motorcycle then pulled the motor down again and rebuilt it as good as I could and I have put 4,484 KM on it before the spindle came loose. The motor was still running it just made a lot of noise.
