Hi, just wanted to ask any other WD CO 350 users out there how fast a 1942 WD CO can be expected to go. Mine seems to struggle to get past 30mph. Is this a sign of engine problems or just the designed top speed? Any comments or advice gratefully received! Thanks, Bob.

From what I've found on google the wd/co 's top speed was 68 mph and the eing produce up to 14 bhp at the time

As well as this very knowledgeable forum I would recommend joining the Historic Military Vehicle Forum for info from Ron, the font of all knowledge on military motorcycles.

i had RE WD/C . last owner told it was not performing well and bit slow to pick up.
when my friend strip down the engine. we found that crank was not moving freely.
we removed pair of bearing Shims. then crank was free.
i dont mean you should strip down. just sharing my experience, i hope this helps.

+ 1 for Graham 43's recommendation. Ron (Pier) is a real expert on the WD Enfields (he painstakingly created a prototype WD/D from just a part complete engine) and not only very helpful but a really nice guy. Jan van de Velde is also a mine of information and also a nice chap. You meet the nicest people on an Enfield, to coin a phrase!
