So the rot boxes that the MOT test put off the road forty years ago will be coming back again with governmental blessing

True unfortunately Bryan, when the last batch got exemption I parked in my local Wicks next to an MGB which had obviously been off the road for many years, bald tyres, rotten all round and covered in many years worth of green mould, the driver got in it and drove off leaving a thick smoke trail. But to be fair I think (hope) that was the exception.

As I understand it the rules about bald tyres and bits and pieces hanging off the car or bike Will still apply. So if you got pulled by our friends in blue you would still be liable to be prosecuted. Any self respecting classic bike owner I know wants to keep their vehicle up to scratch anyway.
Mot can still be done on a voluntary basis anyway.
