The English frames have a tapped hole with a small lock screw alongside the flat of the nut, at least my 1951 Bullet does. This prevents the large nut unscrewing, which has more serious consequences on the English frames due to their design.

Hi Guys,
Whilst typing a suitable reply for this thread my 100W bulb of a brain realised that I hadn't actually checked my own bike !!! DOH or what ??----------Anyway, the Red Baron is a Bullet '65 and it has the "Bolt & Nut" assembly that MICKEY mentioned.............So I've looked at the Online Parts Book but it only shows the same type as the other Bullets..So where can we get these from then ??

A simple Dot punch or two on the shaft secures the nut...

On these old style bikes any nut is at risk, loctite is your friend.

I drilled and threaded the nut(s) with a hole through the frame,screws now stop them coming undone.
