Just to add to the madness I used to run my Rover 420 on pure rapseed oil in the good old days when it was 30p a litre cheaper than diesel. It did 40k on it and other than knocking a bit when cold it ran fine. Tried it in the wife's Volvo V70 definitely a no no. It smelled very nice though but not as nice as Cazy R.
I use fully synth 15/50 in the C5 shuffler

There are diesel motorcycles running on old cooking oil from fish and chip shops; needs filtering first of course.
