they will be sick of me by now :) but i will. thanks all.
upon thinking i realize actually this adapter would increase the bare cable needed by a small amount, so its actually still the opposite of my problem even when i install it with the adapter. ho hum.. ill get there in the end.

Hello JACOBIA STIG, assuming that the old cable you've removed was the correct one in the first place then why not consider having a new but longer one made to order ??........Will our hosts do this ?? ( I don't know as I make my own anyway ) or if not then try Google for}---"Motorcycle cable manufacturers" and you'll be pleasantly surprised at the results !!......... On my last Bullet (No. 3 ) I made a small, raising bracket for the rear of the fuel tank...This lifted it about 1/2" which is enough to give the cable a freer route into the top of the carb....

its a very good idea to just make them oneself im realising now.
im thinking maybe something is worn wrong or odd on my controls because ive doctored the cable that should just be the corrct one and finally got the bike working again. i had to take of about 3cm of housing in the end and then just knocked it back abit with the adjustment at the carb end. a little bracket is a good idea too, to stop the 'clasping' of the tank. fun and games and fun and games :) thank for all help always.
