Hi Merlin,

regarding paragraph formatting this board has an unadvertised fondness for HTML, whether you're formatting text or putting pictures up for that matter.

At the end of each paragraph type < b r > < b r > (without the spaces) and it should all separate nicely.

You aren't running it on E10 fuel are you. That's the same symptoms mine had in Germany. Check for air leaks and that the internal air filter cover is present / not loose and then try different fuel supplier.

Your symptoms sound similar to how mine ran as the regulator/rectifier was on its way out. The bike would run fine at high revs when there was enough current getting through for the electrics to work properly, but running poorly, and then not at all at low revs. If you have a multimeter you can check the reg/rectifier. Loads of eBay tutorials on how to do it.

Hi guys

thanks a lot to those who've replied.

I have now replaced the MIL globe, and it now glows when I first turn the ignition on, as it should.

I can't get it to do the flashes though - is there a trick to it?

I've found the wire coming out of the loom from the ECU, and grounded it but the MIL lamp does not flash at all.

I've tried turning on the ignition and then grounding it, or grounding it first and them turning on the ignition. Either way, no flashes.

just to address a couple of points that have been raised:

- no I'm not running any E10

- the battery is fine, it was new in February and it starts fine after 5 days sitting still.

- yes I've got the manual, but for example it didn't say anything about how to get out the MIL lamp...

Thanks again for any ideas... :)

Is the kill switch in the off position? It needs to be on for the ECU test to work. I suppose it is possible for there to be no
stored faults, hence nothing happens. Can't think of any other reason why the MIL test procedure wouldn't work unless the wire isn't being grounded properly. Does the MIL now go out after the engine has started?

Hi Rattlebattle

the kill switch is in the normal engine running position - it's not exactly clear whether "kill=on" means "engine stop" or "engine run"

yes the MIL now goes out when the fuel pump stops after first turning the ignition on.
