I appreciate my advanced age has an impact on night vision, but can anything be done to improve the light output on dipped beam. It is pretty grim.I have already fitted our hosts upgraded unit but still struggle in rural ambient light levels..

I have a halfords extra bright bulb which is ok on my 2010 C5 but a friend recommended a high intensity discharge kit (HID) which they said was the dogs proverbial and draws less current. I haven't tried it but maybe someone on here has, or knows a good reason not to.

I run a PIAA H88 bulb when off road ;) Extremely bright to ride on unlit roads but intend to try out a (hopefully) cooler running CYCLOPS LED unit when this bulb fails although there may be clearance issues, but if it doesn't fit the Enfield it'll go on one of my other bikes.

Paul Goff now does this unit which is more compact than the Cyclops- but when comparing specs (7000lumen V 4000lumen) definitely not as bright http://www.norbsa02.freeuk.com/goffyWhyNotLEDs.htm

Thanks, I had a suspicion that the only route was LED. These CREE devices used in head torches are available as H4 headlamp upgrades. 20watts produces 2000 lumens, more than adequate for my needs.
