I'm about to pre- assemble a Turbo Twin engine into the frame but I don't have any original fittings.
Does anyone have a note of the length and positioning of the engine/frame spaces tubes? Also the length of the studs would be handy.

This query came up in the REOC magazine The Gun a while back. The numerous spacers required to fit the Villiers engine in the Enfield frame are a real pain. I'll have a look and see but can't promise. I do remember that the engine doesn't sit central to the engine plates, there are longer spacers on one side.

I have the spare and replacement parts book for the 64 Clipper & Turbo Twin. All frame parts are listed on page 34 but no indication of stud and spacer lengths. Confusingly, front engine plates top spacers listed as item 16 LH & 17 RH. Front engine plates lower spacers listed as item 17 LH & 16 RH. Obviously a typo but which way is correct.

Slot the engine in using a couple of rods or overlong studs, one front, one rear, they don't have to be a proper fit, then line up the gearbox and wheel sprockets with a straight edge if it fits, or stretched string if not. Then measure the gaps between engine mounts and frame plates. Should be near enough to choose between short and long spacers. Don't forget to line up the rear wheel with the front first!

Mr H has passed on the length of the spacers. So the engine is off set the RH side.

48125 – 0.812”
48126 – 0.937”
43011 – 0.375”
45517 – 0.500”
