Just a thought ( Joyce says I'm allowed one a day !!)------ That orange colour sounds like rust to me.......If it is then you'll need to kill it off completely then get the tank innards properly sealed.........Don't forget that this modern so-called "Petrol" is anything but that, and can start to break down leaving a water layer at the bottom of the tank.....Here's another thought ( on credit from next week !!) have you recently filled your tank ??--was it from your usual supplier ?? .... Be absolutely thorough in your cleaning and resolute in your methods after all you don't want a repetition of that fault when having just committed yourself to an overtaking manoeuvre, eh ??--Keep the faith, bruv !!

Thank you all for your advice. Carb has now had the ultrasonic treatment and using a temporary fuel supply the engine starts easily and will rev to its hearts delight so looks like muck in the carb was eventual problem. The muck in tank was corrosion so tank has been steam cleaned, thoroughly dried and a dose of sealant applied. The sealant went in and got ‘swilled’ around very thoroughly but now, 72 hours after treatment the stuff hasn’t fully set, is that normal I wonder? Once it has gone off I will install the new fuel tap already acquired from our hosts and an inline filter, belt and braces! Thanks again. Adam

Home of the inaccesable but easily blockable pilot jet! The latest Premier versions have proper detachable pilot jets, easier to clean.
