Tab, I suggest before tearing your hair out, disconnect and reconnect all the electrical connector blocks on the bike.

If the starter motors spinning the motor but the MIL light is not on nor the fuel pump priming then it'll be a problem somewhere on the ignition circuit.
It's being interrupted by either the engine kill switch, side stand switch, neutral switch, the clutch switch, the ignition [key] unit or a faulty fuse.

or a broken wire that connects that lot together...

Check all electrical connections- fuses and relays, the relays have a history of bad connections, and I see on my new bullet the connectors are covered in white grease? of some description to stop bad connections, pull relays out and reconnect, if they are working correctly you should hear and feel a click as the contacts inside operate.

Cheers thanks for the replys.
Been doing the checks on relays and
Connectors also tried to get the codes from the ecu
by shorting it out but nothing happened so I think it's the ecu that's not working. Phoned Hitchcocks and they agree but not a hundred percent sure.
It's £300 +vat and postage any body know of a way of checking it to be sure without the cost of electrical check at auto electrics
Cheers

Tab this is a very frustrating problem you're having with this EFI Electra! You say that fuel pump doesn't work; no spark at the spark plug; no failure code lights; some other warning lights don't work. But the starter motor spins. I'm no electrician but I'm pretty sure that all those failed items run back to or are controlled bu the ECU. Seems to me to be a likely culprit. But if you can get it tested that may be the best way forward. Hope you can get it sorted.

Hi guys--------- just following on from ric's earlier comment}-- Those F******* sidestand switches on any bike usually give trouble--- mainly because of their close proximity to the road and all the delights that scenario holds for an electrical item....My 3-cyl Triumph Thunderbird was good for that so I just electrically by-passed the switch itself...If this switch is directly connected to the ECU then that could be the fault ?? Easy enough to just wire-in a temporary by-pass wire ..

IF the wiring on this model is the same as the later bikes then all that's required is to pull apart the side stand switch block connector.
A jumper lead must not be placed across the connectors inside the block as this would cause the problem's described in the first post.
Curious to know how it's been ascertained that 'Side stand cut out works though'.

Hi ric..... Yes, I see what you mean about that first post...OK, I understand that when deployed the side stand switch goes "open" circuit and thus cuts ignition but when the stand is in the running position then the ignition circuit is completed and the engine runs....so how can replicating that by placing a jumper wire over the switch terminals do any damage ??........Are there electronic reasons that my 3-Carbed Thunderbird just didn't have maybe ??
