The Premier version also uses an ethanol-resistant float, while on the subject of modern fuels, I think this can be retro-fitted to the Mk2 and older Mk1s.

The form versus function debate will no doubt continue. The Mikuni TM36-31 I had fitted to the Electra-X is an ugly piece of kit to look at but it actually functions beautifully. A Mk1 might be aesthetic perfection but, if it's not working properly, it isn't doing what a carb is supposed to do!

I suppose the Mikarb could go back on for riding, then the Amal can be swapped back for time spent in the garage just staring at the bike...

Prettiest Bullet carb competition, anyone?

Here we are again - have stripped and cleaned through the Amal and it is all ok, have checked and replaced everything yet it still pops back through the carb and won't start! I wear my trials boots as it does kick back like a mule! Thanks for all your posted views. Not sure where to go from here? Ebay maybe :-(
