Ive noticed that they are making KTM's in India now and the build quality looks pretty good so its not at all inconcievable. Also Ducati's were made under license in Spain for a number of years so they arent addicted to Italian manufacture.

The Spanish Ducatis had a poor reputation IIRC. The 24 Horas 250cc single became known as the 24 Horrors. Ducati is very profitable now; I doubt that the company is for sale.
