That just looks so right, even with the 17" wheels (and a nicely aligned front mudguard, sorry Scaly!). Hopefully you won't have too much re-commissioning to do.



Notice the seat looks a lot slimmer than the repro Redditch seats our hosts sell.

[center]That's really neat and Adrian, I still cant line the guard up at the twat that made it got the fork dents at the wrong angle!

I sticking Kevin here as a comparison As I never seen another De Luxe in the flesh!

That is pretty Ed, best of luck getting it going! When and where can we see it? Incidentally David Blasco's blog RoyalEnfields.com has a Craigslist advert for a very late (1963) Meteor Minor Sports Twin. Apparently, although the MM had officially ceased production they made a last batch of 72 for the USA and it seems to have come with the front end from the Interceptor with separate headlamp, small top yoke and long fork shrouds. Have a look, it really lifts the look of front of the bike. Although I do like the deep guards too, I have a project bike with the guards like yours.

They say beauty is in the beast (or was that Disney?) but luckily, Kevin is up stairs and out of earshot. I prefer the front guard on yours. Kevin's is correct for the period, but always looks wrong, and even gets people on here mentioning it. (Just ribbing A.) I would love to see them both together, but Kevin is my French bike, so possibly bit far to go.



Ed... Go look up 'Meteor Minor De Luxe' on google. There are about 6 proper ones with one blue airflow (fairing) version there, but that's about it. Some say they are De Luxe, but if the full chain guard is not there, then it's not. Welcome to very rare bike club. YAY.... "Kevin's club", oh maybe not then.

Nothing wrong with a decent front mudguard Scaly. Much better than those useless bits of short plastic on most modern bikes. I've found the first "job" -- that front number plate was changed in 1993 and it's painted on. I'd like to remove the black and white while leaving the burgundy intact, but that might be a bit tricky and I'm not at present planning on any repainting. I'd be up for taking it to France once it's gained my confidence. When I got a Norton Commando the first thing I did with it was take it on a 4-day, 1000-mile trip to Epernay.
