Prompted by Mark M in another thread, I did indeed rebuild a 350 unit Bullet a few years ago. This was a total engine rebuild, so I saw everything inside first hand and I did the first few miles on it when it was running again. My impressions of this machine were positive overall, although I had to square off the rounded engagement dogs on a couple of the unobtainable gears, to stop the machine jumping out of top gear, so the gearbox could be a weak spot. Apart from that, what a bike! It topped 70 mph with ease on little more than half throttle and I am sure it would have sniffed 90 flat out. It was a nice, light and compact machine which handled and braked well and I would say it would match a good Continental GT 250 for speed, but with less fuss and rpm's to do it. I even suggested to our hosts that perhaps a '350 kit' might be possible for the Crusader family of machines, as I am sure it could be done!

Thanks for that Paul, that's exactly the sort of direct experience I was wanting. As I was riding a borrowed machine I wasn't too heavy on the throttle but I could feel it had potential. A running project bike has been offered to me so we'll see!
