Hi all

I'm a new member of this forum and a returnee to the world of Bullets after a 12 year gap. In April I bought a new Electra Classic, and 1000 miles later I'm still smiling from ear to ear every time I ride it.

I'm wondering if anyone on here has fitted a chain oiler to an Electra? The one I hope to fit is the basic Tutoro model.

Any advice on where to site the oil tube and pipe much appreciated.

Hello ENFIELD ED ----- if your bike has an "o - ring" chain fitted, will you need an oiler ?? Why not use a spray lubricant once a month----save on money---save on mess !!! Works for me--------------

I don't like oil on chains, it always ends up on the back wheel rim and makes a mess. I use an O ring chain and chain wax. OK, you need to spray more often but it's a lot less messy.

Hi Ed -- I had the Tuturo basic oiler, and it worked well. I don't mind a bit of splatter on the back wheel, it keeps the rust away and my bike is black anyway. I drilled a small hole in the front of the left hand toolbox and attached a P-clip there to hold the reservoir. The main problems were the small reservoir, and the need to remember to turn it on and off.

I've now got the "automatic" version which is a lot better. On my Bullet I've got a bellmouth and dispensed with the air filter and airbox, so there's plenty of room to attach the universal bracket on the front of the mudguard, just below and to the right of the coil. Because the Bullet is rattly by nature, I had to almost close the oil supply tap to get the flow right.

Hi Pete...just to ask is there enough clearance on the classic Bullet for an O ring chain...If there is, I'm going to be so annoyed with myself for missing out on a bargain just recently!!!

I modify a steel clutch plate and fit it between 2 gaskets between the inner primary and crankcase and then there is no issue fitting an "O" ring chain. Sure saves a lot of adjusting.

hi les h ,my indian market 350 bullet came as standard with an o ring chain and has only needed adjusting twice in 10,000 miles 4000+ miles done under massive diesel torque cheers paul.

Hi Norm, thanks, so you pack out the chain case for the extra clearance...good idea.... and thanks grunda... you can just get away with it. So that bargain I could have had was wasted...I'm soooo annoyed with myself!

I haven't maeasured the thickness of a clutch steel, probably 2mm plus an extra gasket and it clears no problem. At one stage I had a 21 tooth sprocket on and a heavy duty "O" ring chain and it cleared no problems
