On reading the workshop mAnual for the EFI there is a section on how to recharge the gas shocks with compressed air. Has anyone done this, if so any observations and is this something that needs to be done often?
Reading workshop manuals is like reading medical books, I always worry and develop symptoms!

I agree with Papasmurf, had to modify the rear sub frame on an Electra 500T to fit Hagons, but well worth it for the improvement on handling (and they look better). Wouldn't even consider re-gassing an ugly shock.

Bet why did you have to modify the rear subframe? A set of Hagon's were a straight replacement with no problems on my Electra X (ish) which looks like a trials bike, (sort of.)

Papasmurf, the hole in the sub frame (rear mudguard frame) for the top mount of the shock was too high in the steel plate, top of the shock spring was touching the frame before the holes lined up. Hacksaw and file to remove some meat from the under side of the frame plate. Does this make sense?

Had to take 1/4" off to get 1/8" clearance. As you say 'Indian engineering', their Quality Assurance guy must be over worked. Maybe built in a different side street in Chennai.

Fair point all.
Will put a set on my birthday present list. BTW changed to a 19t sprocket yesterday. Much better ride.

I had gas shocks on a 900ss Ducati some years back. They were binned pdq for Hagons, much nicer ride. Have a pair on my old Triumph too rather than the standard ones.
