hi out riding my 350 bullet today and i suffered a oil spindle failure , total loss of oil circulation , as you can expect bad noises happened before failure . i examined spindle to find teeth stripped off oil spindle , rockers removed heavly burnt . how do i prove the big end isnt damaged without a total strip down?

Hi just finished rebuilding a 94 500 same prob I put 25 60 oil in instead of 20 50, stripped teeth of oil spindle. Pull the front drain plug out if you have a lot of white metel present big end will be us, if clear whip head and barrell off you will feel lift in conrod if bearing is gone not a hard job to strip engine down, with head barrell of engine can be removed leaving gearbox in place, top studs can be double nutted using btm bolts and removed tm two can be unscrewed once gearbox is slid back a little using thin slip joint pliers. Moter is easy to pull apart I draw outline of crankcase on cardboard box and put studs in holes with nuts in order so you know where they go. More you do less you pay ? Crank can be taken to workshop for pulling apart and truing up after new bits installed. Best of luck.

Hi, just a bit of research, looking at the pump spindle from the front with the peg at 12oclock where have the drive teeth worn? I just want to see if the pumps always fail at the same point. Vince

Hi, thanks for that information, this is the same as the stripped spindles I've checked which seems to confirm my suspicions. Vince
