New grips fitted today. Easy job, used hot water first but struggled on the throttle side so resorted to hairspray. Job done. Whilst I was at it I was investigating some increasingly clunky gearchanging. Noticed that all three gearbox cover screws were loose. Tightened up and now shifting perfectly (for an enfield). A successful hours work. Thanks for the advice and tips.

Leon: - Quite......but surely this Mongoose of which you speak has 'Meerkat' written all over it?

And if you watch the ads, the Mongoose is a mortal enemy of the aforementioned Meerkat.
