I have a Goldie exhaust and took the baffle out! I think I must be a young 50 something Hooligan! It does give it a softer sound however but not like a modern bike which all tend to sound like washing machines now. Maybe its best not to mention ASBO engines Bulletwhisperer!

OK - I bought a 15cm baffle of ebay, wrapped it in fibreglass matting, tied the matting on with some wire, and popped it in the end of the Goldie loudhailer. It now sounds like a weak steam engine. It makes a pathetic wheezing put put sound. In other words, it's too effective at taking away the noise. I think I'll cut back the fibreglass a little to bring back a moderate thump.

After fitting the baffle I had to lean out the idle mixture just to get her started.

Can someone confirm that I won't damage the engine by restricting the exhaust this way? It will just make the mixture richer, right? So I'll do a plug check in due course and find out if I need to re-jet.
