Got a flat battery on the Enfield and no amount of kicking or jump starting will get it started, so I'm presuming that the battery needs at least some power to prime the fuel pump?? So the kick start on this is useless!!

Any suggestions?

Yes its an electric fuel pump that supplys fuel under presure to the injectors so you will need at lest some power in the battery for that and to close the relays. It would be best take off the battery and fully charge & check it if you can.

Was there any indication prior to discovering it discharged that it wasn't receiving any charge, caused by something like a loose spade connection within the reg/rec connector block for example?

Even with a kickstart only machine, you'd be struggling to start with a totally flat battery.

The OE battery is not good - our hosts supply Yuasa which is a good make and reliable. The handbook states the engine should start with 10.4v but my batt was indicating 12.2v pd and it still wouldn't start even on the k/s. Good batt should be 13.2v.

I run motobatt batteries in my bikes sealed battsglass packing I believe between cells. If you cant jump start it try switch its not on sidestand is it.

The OEM Export battery is a FIAMM which should be ok, maybe not the best but certainly not the worst. It won't start if the side stand is down! A new 2016 battery should not be dead. Therefore check all connections from alternator to regulator, fuse box and battery - because these connections are not all that good. Do check the battery terminals because they are flimsy and make sure the little wires are connected to it, not fallen off. Do check the fuses, the main fuse will kill the works like a dead battery. The oem fuses are shoddy. The alternator is 220watts and can charge the battery at idle with all the lights on. Do test the battery. Other thing to check is battery electrolyte level, it should have been export-shipped dry, easily missed. A battery or electrical fault on a bike this new is back to the dealership.
