Latest project is reviving a Mk 1A Interceptor repatriated by our Hosts from the USA. It's complete, largely unmolested but scruffy; (borderline) oily rag I hope. First job is to see if it will run so I start with sparks of which there are none. Remove saddle to get at coils and ignition and what do I find? A nest made of chewed cardboard, pink loft insulation and what appear to be hazelnuts! First time I've had to nick the Hoover to work on a restoration....

America has dosens of squirrel and chipmunk species, but given the capacity under the seat, I'd say it was your humble house mouse. I once restored a Lambretta imported from Italy, behind the horncast was a small wasps nest!

Chris, I think it's mice too, judging by how the nuts are carefully opened but the squirrel headline sounded better! Fortunately they hadn't chewed any wiring, leaving the task of bodging in the wrong coils and the tricky task of wiring them up incorrectly to the Previous Owner!

Thanks for the interest chaps. I can't get into our Photobucket account at the moment so I'll start a new one. The Ebay Bullet has made real progress and is not far off being finished. I promised in The Gun that I would reveal a new project at the REOC Home Counties Rally in July but at the moment I'm not sure which one it will be!

Latest news, the 1968 Mk1A Interceptor runs! I have found a number of bodges and problems along the way, mostly indicative of ignorant former Owner(s) but all relatively minor so far. (Fingers crossed!) My spares stash and Hitchcocks have provided everything I needed along with my very patient local auto factor (Car Spares in Stony Stratford, thanks chaps,) who found the right battery, plugs, etc. Now I know it runs I can turn to the rest of the cycle parts. More to come!
