So. Relay is fine, opens and closes and I have 12v right upto fuel pump. Fuel pump not working. Mr H gave me the price of a new one and I went for a little lay down. There is a guy in India (you tube) who says that I can swap out the electric motor for a similar car part inside the fuel pump. I can only think that riding in torrential rain all winter some water has got into the tank and contaminated the fuel? Any tried this or heard of this type of repair been done?

It is possible to repair the pump for £60 there is a thread about it somewhere on this forum.

Very unlucky; I know of only one other pump failure (but then again I don't visit Indian websites). In this case the bike had done over 40,000 miles and I seem to remember the owner managed to repair it. Whilst I have a nearly new spare pump, having converted mine to a carb (which would be cheaper than buying a new pump), I'm hanging onto it just in case I am forced to switch back to EFI through some future change in the regulations concerning emissions testing for the MOT. I have owned other bikes for which someone has identified a cheaper alternative fuel pump, usually from a car, but I've not seen anything similar for the EFI.

Sorry i can't help with repair suggestions, also apologies to Tim for doubting his diagnostics, good call mate..

This is the EFI. Failing ignition can be the spark plug (you tried that), the HT cap (the oem cap falls a part), the HT lead (again the oem HT cap doesn't connect well) and the HT lead can be short and pulling out, the coil (unlikely), the crank position sensor aka engine speed sensor (this tells the ECU when to fire, unlikely to fail but see below), any of the other ECU sensors especially the throttle position sensor (TPS).

The sensors on the bike are pretty good but the connectors to them tend to pull apart. So before throwing money at it go round and find all the sensor connectors, pull them apart and put them back together properly, this not only ensure they are firmly connected but cleans their contacts too. The TPS and MPS (manifold pressure) connectoids are by the throttle body. The Crank sensor connector is hidden at back of the gearbox.

Battery unlikely but there is a thin strip connector on it to the ECU that is known to split through and fail, check the battery connectors are sound. The alternator is something like 220 watts so it is well capable of keeping the battery charged, do check the electrolyte occasionally.

Jefrs, The guy has stated that he has 12v to the pump and the pump is not running?. I think he already knows what is wrong.

Fuel pump not working? The fuel pump is not supposed to work all the time, it will stop when there is back pressure. That may mean the pump has stopped because it is blocked. There is an internal filter known for getting blocked. Take the unit out, wash it out with petrol and test it on the bench. Don't throw money at it until you have investigated the actual cause.
