I keep an old chain, if im pulling chain off to oil it attach old one to new then pull new one through.once youve oiled and fiddled with chin or brakes just attach your good chain to the old one and pull it through, done this for years .
Another way is a bit of copper wire fixed to chain and slid round front sprocket.saves my swear words for the tin tank drivers.
