Hi all, thought I would start a new thread to do with the trials Bullet I am working on. Those of you who have read my other topic will know the problems I've been having. Anyway, enough of that, what I want to know is, if I order a new sprocket and chain for the primary, what front sprocket is good for trials work. That is not for road/trail use, but proper trials. And yes I know the secondary chain/sprocket ratio is important, I haven't yet counted the number of teeth on those, so will do. If anyone here does trials work on a pre-65 bike, I would be interested to know what is a good starting point.
Also, as an aside, the long trials shocks fitted mean the chain does just rub slightly on the top of the swingarm cross piece when the bike is at rest. I'm thinking of gluing a thin piece of rubber over the relevant area - thoughts ?

i have used the front chain guide of a bultaco which fits the curb of the enfield swing arm perfectly.

you just need to weld a holding plate to the swing arm to keep it in place, you’ll need to manage the heat when welding being close to the rubber bushing of the swing arm.

as seen in the picture a chain tensioner is also helpful with taking op the slack of the chain, and so smoothening out the throttle response.



a rear sprocket guard is also not a bad idea to add, because fingers and toes don’t grow back.

Very neat solution, sadly the swingarm was already powder coated. Thanks for the response.
I have also found a formula on a Triumph Cub forum for working out overall gearing with a pointer as to suitable trials ratios.
