Bit off topic but my swiss german friend wants to know what his uncles bike is. Apparently they don't know?!?!??!?!?


Any ideas? Looks like is says Ariel on the tank. What year would it be?

I asked the question on another site, here are the responses -
1956ish VH or NH.
Normally on the timing side is VB /VH etc: Engine no.also is a giveaway!!I.e Google it
Obviously a Gentleman's Bike, parking itself neatly above the bowl
Nice woodshed too.

DVLA have it as Ariel, manufactured 1956, capacity 350, date of first registration 2003.
Untaxed at the moment but insured.

All freely available information these days.

Are we talking about the bike in Scalyback's photo? Because I can't see any reg number or any other identification on that machine. I thought the question was about that bike - not the one placed lower in this thread. But I maybe wrong.

I'm with Presto and think that Scaly's picture is what were trying to identify..

Looks like a VH 500 if you compare barrel height with Papas known NH 350..

Pity the wood shed bike wasn't pictured from the other side and a bit closer where there should be a VH stamped on the timing cover..

Heres a picture of a VH 500 taken with a potato, count the barrel fins..
