Scaly - the answer is that you shouldn't flash your headlight as a warning (Rule 110 of the Highway Code) As its on already there's no need to flash. You could always shout in an English manner 'I say, there . . . . ', in Europe you'd clear your throat vigorously and spit, whereas in the USA you wave your handgun around.

Do what ?????

Rule 110
"Flashing headlights. Only flash your headlights to let other road users know that you are there. Do not flash your headlights to convey any other message or intimidate other road users."

I would have assumed that it was a warning to let other road users know that you are there... then there is Rule 112...

Rule 112
The horn. Use only while your vehicle is moving and you need to warn other road users of your presence. Never sound your horn aggressively. You MUST NOT use your horn

while stationary on the road
when driving in a built-up area between the hours of 11.30 pm and 7.00 am

except when another road user poses a danger.

So between 11:30 pm and 7:00 am, you supposed to signal by flashing the headlamp from what I remember from driving course? What did other people get taught?

Four way flashers or hazard lights on a bike are allready fitted my Kawasaki has them plus ABS and no light switch they call it automatic lights basically the headlight comes on when the engine starts I still have to turn the ignition switch though

The more I read the happier I am to ride a 50-odd years old bike. 4-way indicators, nah mate just wave yer arm about and hang on with the other one you'll be ok. Horn? yer, squeeze this black bit. Lights, 6 volt but they won't come on cos the battery is flat and the alternator is shite. Brakes, put your feet down and make some spaaaarks up the road. Kevlar reinforced jacket, nope, 40 year old leather with so many badges it's bullet proof. Multi-part fancy driving tests? No, but I find if you treat every road user as a complete and utter total farking idiot, probably including you, you'll probably survive. And best of all, I didn't need hordes of non-riding european politicos to tell me.

In a road test of the 200cc Suzuki Van Van (what a stupid name) in this month's edition of MSL there is mention of a concession from Euro IV legislation for 2017 and 2018 only for the bike in that it does not require to have ABS. Apparently the exemption expires in 2019. This might explain why some small capacity (but larger than 125cc bikes), usually Chinese, don't appear to have ABS but are still legal for sale. Does anyone know what this is about?

Well this one warmed up after I last looked. For what it's worth I passed my test in 1979 and when it's warm enough I ride in shirt sleeves and trainers and gloves come off at the first opportunity and I love every second of it. You wear what you wish and let me do the same. My life my choice.
