It was a grey day at the Hollyvile cafe, but there was still a nice selection of bikes to mingle with.

Does anyone have one of those Norton MCH61 headlamp shells for sale? I know there's a chromed one up on ebay at the moment, but the vendor is asking silly money for it. I have also seen the BSA version with a chunk missing... A.

Sorry, just to be precise the **LUCAS** MCH61 headlamp AS FITTED to certain Norton Dominator models, such as the example in Scaly's latest Hollyville post, and the one he correctly identifies from the old Lucas catalogue.

I typed Norton rather then Lucas because that's the particular configuration I'd like to use. Lucas supplied different versions of the same shell to different manufacturers, so the pattern used by Norton Dominator is different from the BSA A65LC, the BSA army B40 or, I kid you not, USA versions of the MZ ETZ250 circa 1974/75. Check out Ebay item 162152379273, which I think was a bit late to make it into that edition of the catalogue. I e-mailed a UK supplier of MZ spares, and he didn't have any but did explain that the US importers had to change the OEM lighting as it didn't meet US regulations. This was about the same time our cousins were insisting all Triumphs and Nortons sold over there had to have left-foot gear change.

More useless knowledge to file away for quiz nights...

There are usually some chrono speedos on fleabay but even if you can find a working one with the right calibration they're £££. Does Tornado have a rear wheel driven speedo, or is the drive on the front wheel same as later drum-braked Bullets?

Meanwhile I have ordered the speedo hole type headlamp shell and rim for a 250 MZ, not the Lucas version, but it still looks as though it will be suitable for what I'm after. I might even fit an MZ ignition switch...

Tornado's speedo gearbox is on he front. Kevin's is on the back, but he already has a chronometric.
