Hi
As a general rule would I be correct to use 'thinner' oil to 'soften' my front forks? Currently using 10W so would using 5W do the job. Or are significant changes only made by a 'softer/weaker' spring? To own up this is not for my Electra but for my BSA Bantam trail bike I have built using a Yam SR125 engine and Suzuki GN125 forks (for the disc brake and stronger stanchions.). All advice will be appreciated.

Yes, you're right, a thinner oil will give you less damping and so a softer ride. I use ATF in the Bullet which I believe is about sae 7. The Triumph Cub likes 20/50 however.
