Hello all,

I decided to buck the trend for my generation and buy a RE aged 35. I have a Japanese bike too but have always wanted an Enfield... so I bought one.

I bought a bullet g5 2009 on eBay last week. I took the gamble of buying without seeing it as it was a long way away from my home (Bracknell)... (I know. Please don't berate me for this)... Overall I'm happy. It's in good condition and runs well... BUT...

The headlight, side lights, rear running light and rear nearside indicator don't work... so I did a little investigation using my limited technical ability. Here is what I found:

+The main beam (brights) does work.
+The two little lights either side of the headlight do not work. I'm calling these side lights.
+The brake light works
+I swapped the dodgy indicator bulb into another indicator and it works fine
+Inspection of the rear bulb - it has two filaments (one for brake and one for running light. Both look in good condition
+I found the clear glass tube fuses under the cover on the nearside. They were all healthy.

My gut instinct is that it is 2 electrical issues. One for the indicator and one for the headlight and running lights.

Without advice, my next option is a local mechanic but I'd rather fix it myself with guidance from the RE brotherhood.

I welcome your suggestions and support.:-)

Until someone with more recent knowledge comes along, here are my observations from my own bikes, which are older models than yours and so are probably different:

My front sidelights DO NOT illuminate at the same time as the headlight, only in the middle switch position. Also, I found an extra fuse under the seat of my 2007 bike.

Can you try running a wire direct to these problem areas to check that the units themselves are ok, rather than something in the loom?
Then get on and enjoy the bike!!! Good luck, Chris
