Tornado the military bullet's toolkit(s)

On short trips, a plug spanner and spare plugs. Longer trips, spare clutch cable, screw drivers, Allen keys, a few spanners, pliers a bit of wire and a spare clutch cable. Trips to Brittany, just empty the toolbox into a pannier bag...

New B5 toolkit as supplied with the bike plus Slinky Glide cable kit (I notice spare cables don't come with new bikes any more) Michelin 3.50x19 tube, puncture repair kit, 24mm OE/tyre lever combination spanner, 30mm OE, Lezyne HV mini pump, tub of tyre lube, pressure guage, pliers, cable ties, rubber gloves. first aid kit, mob and RAC membership card so I can call 'em out to mend the puncture!

Simon, I'm surprised you don't keep spare cables, so simple and a common cause of breakdowns. Also, in the main toolroll you have 2 lager spanners. Why no bitter spanners or a corkscrew?

The lager spanners help guide Tornado towards any pub within the locality, but I feel you missed "Tornado's 'biscuit tins' also contain spare control cables." which is under "Tornado always carries:-"

And to think that I had checked for the usual predictive spelling alterations. Missed that one.

Not one for nit-picking Simon, but you consistently call your toolrolls for 'toolrools'... Is this a colloquial quirk?

One thing about on-board-bike tools is that riders often assemble a toolkit specifically for use on a bike but never actually test that the tools chosen will actually do the job at the side of the road. I found this out the hard way many years ago, the spanner I'd chosen to adjust the rear wheel fit ok but simply wasn't long enough to loosen it! Simon, you're right, I missed the cables, apologies. But where's your torch? (you'll say I never ride at night...) I usually carry a few longish bolts as well, nuts fall off and it's good to have spares but once in a blue moon the whole fastening goes missing!

Local use: Credit card + smart phone with breakdown recovery number. Supplied toolkit.

Distance: Above + large tyre levers, spanners for wheel removal, inner tubes (annoying that my C5 has different sized wheels). Spare cables - as supplied with bike. However, as I have converted mine to carb there is no need for the old throttle cables or bi-starter cable. I suppose I should buy a suitable new throttle cable though at a pinch I could probably use the largely redundant choke cable. Spare bulbs, electrical connectors, cable ties, duct tape, superglue, sense of humour.

it's on my phone, but Tornado is about to get fitted with a regulated USB socket, so can plug pretty string of blue LED star lights into it, or even my phone! YAY!
