I recently purchased your left to righ shift kit. Included in the kit is a gear operator fork part 111079. None of the other kits I have seen have this part, and none of the instructions I have seen reference it. It isn't clear to me why this part is needed (as the changes ate to the actuation mechanism, not the shifting itself), and I would like to avoid changing it if it is not necessary, as it makes the job a lot more involved. Is it necessary to fit this new part?

Yes Bob, I think you have mistaken this message board as a way to communicate with Hitchcocks staff.
It is actually a discussion group for Enfield owners kindly provided by Hitchcocks. I know they do not keep tabs on here very closely.
They are very good to talk to on the phone and have always cleared up any problems I have had with any purchase.
