On my 1999 500 Bullet I'm changing the mini-indicators for the proper-sized Minda home market ones. First to swap was the LH front, and all is fine. Then I swapped the RH front and the indicator works when the wires are connected but the indicator is not bolted up. When I bolted it to the bracket on the shroud it stopped working (the LH one is still OK). I unbolted it to check, and it worked again but doesn't work when bolted to the frame. It's as though the electrickery is leaking into the frame and not completing the circuit.

Apologies for my electrical ignorance, but does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks, Mark.

I've sorted it but I don't know how... With the indicator wired up and flashing, I bolted the stem to the bracket to see when it stopped. It continued to flash until the split washer was just flat, and as the rubber outer stem began to compress just a bit it stopped working. Presumably the metal stem is making or losing contact with something inside the indicator shell? Ah well, job done!

If it was working when not in contact with the frame then it has a supply and "earth"

If it then stops working when attached, then the act of bolting it on must be breaking a contact.
