I've monitored mine for over 8,000miles and have averaged 90+mpg for each mile shown on the odometer.
Whether or not one of my logged Enfield miles is 5,280 feet long or not which could give an overly optimistic result is a discussion for another day.

Mine's surprisingly accurate - an indicated 85 is a GPS 80. Will still be fitting a bicycle speedo sometime, as I like having a trip counter :-)

I do not trust GPS mileage because they tend to iron kinks in the road out. They can be accurate down to 3cm like the ones in the toys we fitted into military helicopters but they continuously update and cost more than the bike. The thing on the front wheel measures distance, dips and bumps, potholes and weaving around road irons and all.

I fill up, record the mileage and forget to do the next one. I don't get into top gear for long and do speed up and slow down a lot, I do open her up; these lanes are wiggly. From what I have recorded I'm getting somewhere between 62 and 103 mpg. I suggest the truth lies somewhere in the middle, probably the lower end :)

This post started quite interestingly, however, I think things have got a bit out of hand! A bullet should do a lot better than a v12 Jag, not as well as a Honda 50. Whereabouts in the no-mans-land twixt these two will depend on riding style and correct adjustment of carb, ignition and the like. If mine did getting on for 80 mpg I would be very happy. Less than 60 and I would get the spanners out.

Jefrs - I trust my GPS, it consistently returns the same mileage for my commute of 14.8 miles, which matches spot on with both my VW Golf and Google maps.

Reg - I'm getting below 50mpg, ergo the spanners are out. Or rather will be sometime, the weathers too nice at the moment so tend to be riding it rather than tinkering. That being said, since putting the Goldie silencer on and adjusted the pilot, I got 58MPG on the last tank, although one tank doth not a pattern make :-)

Again, just to update if someone else comes across this thread in a search. I treated the bike to dyno time at our host's, where they spent a couple of hours sorting the fuelling. Main jet was taken to 250, and the float height was found to be too high, and adjusted accordingly. At the next filllup the average returned 68mpg, which bode well for being back up to scratch for the next full tank. Until it was stolen and torched.

6 0f us went to France in May doing 1500mls we had a few different bullets but were all filling up at the same time and were all within a few euros of each other averaging 70-80mpg
we were all loaded with camping gear and no real problems ..

I got 150 miles to the gallon. 75 miles outward on the bike and 75 miles back on the trailer....

some riders will always get better milage than others ,,,, some don't go over 50mph ,, so its not a easy one to be correct on ,,

buzzing along at 50-60mph around 70mpg ,,, that for a carb bike ,,, the EFI would do around 80mpg this is about right ,

if you go slower you get more ,,,,,,,, you get out what you put in ,, more petrol more speed ,,,, common sense really ..
