Thanks for the replys regarding bar end mirrors on the Continental 535, I've been informed by our host that they can supply me with alternative larger round stainless steel bar end mirrors but it will mean losing the bar end weights, therefore I could have a problem with vibration, so I'm thinking it's probably not a good idea after all, so I'll stick with the small alloy ones I've got, they look the part anyway but they don't add to ones safety on the road as much as larger mirrors. You can't look over your shoulder wearing a full face helmet as I'm sure you all know

Beware of mirror curvature. Lever-mount oval mirror 92568 has a rather flat surface. Rectangular Halcyon-typo 200033/200034 bar-end seem to be just right. The round bar-end is also a Halcyon type but I have no idea of its curvature. The curve on the stock C5 lever mount ones is just about right but the mirrors are in the wrong place (and wobble), I see myself or the grass verges. The pretty Ironhorse http://ironhorsespares.co.uk/ bar-end is rather flat again. Personally I prefer a single large mirror with a wide field of view, 200034 shows me both sides of the road behind me.

These bar-end mirrors /can/ be fitted outside the bar-end weights but they do act as anti-vibration weights themselves, the weight is not required (they are heavier than the aluminium CGT ones). I have 200034 on the right and a weight on the left. UK legislation allows for stupidity, a mirror is not required to be fitted. Certainly in the 50s and 60s, bikes were not supplied with mirrors. Leon's parents appear to be on a bike with no mirrors :) I'm old enough to have ridden legally without a helmet.

Swivelling my head - my jaws are apparently too wide to get a full face lid to fit properly, I find them painful. So I use an open face. I do however have a semi that has good side vision although it is tight on the cheeks. My favourite open lid is an HJC with a sun peak and an internal drop-down visor. If I have to ride in the rain, an open Spada with a bubble visor protects the face; I wear glasses so goggles are out. I also like to hear, and hence dislike lids with sound deadening; you can hear hazards as well as see them.

Jefrs - I have the same helmet, in black - Where can we get visors from for these things??
I've never heard of a helmet giving a semi before by the way! (Oooerr Matron!)

t c - I've just installed one of our hosts mirror extensions (#92599) on the right bar on my Effie (2008 Electra EFI) used with one of the standard mirrors (#540118). It works a treat whereas before, all I could see was my f€ckin elbow! Vibration doesn't seem to affect the mirror as well which is an added bonus.

Gaz, I assume you mean the internal visor - on the FG-70s http://www.hjc-helmets.uk.com/accessori ... s-sunvisor; two or three colours available - try UK distributor Oxford Products http://www.oxfordproducts.com/motorcycl ... isplay:96/, otherwise from abroad (France or Germany). It is p/n "IS-04" for the FG-70, not the same as on many of the other HJC lids (i.e. don't order the wrong part).

Mine is grey with a black badger stripe, which matches the bike ;) I had to order my lid from France as that colour not available here. The peak proved more difficult but they are generic 3-stud. I think I found the HJC peak a little short so swapped them around, I think it received a Bultaco peak - found various peaks online, can't remember where, did an ogle search. I cannot find the visor in the UK, there are light, dark and amber ones from France and Germany. Ordering stuff from Germany, France and Spain is reasonably swift and painless.

I/we have several helmets but have found price does not necessarily equate to quality.
