So finally been through the process of getting my bike registered.Although I found the original registration number in the archives Dvla would not believe that the bike belonged to the number or vise versa because in 1928 they registered the bike without noting the frame number. They have issued me an age related number after having the bike tested at no cost by a company that certifies these things. the royal Enfield club also dated the machine wich I sent in with my application but Dvla didn't think this was enough hence the test. One has to be patient and although I still think dvla should proof that the original number didn't belong to the bike instead of me having to proof it did,at least I can now drive it on the road.
