Bullet 500 main bearing disintegrated at Xmas twisting drive shaft and distorting con rod insert. Anyone got a ballpark figure (number of hours and cost) for repair - engine dismantle and rebuild. Am I going to need a bank loan - cost of parts (seals, gaskets, new crankshaft and bearings) is $1300 (650 Pounds) so far. It's an old school, iron head and carburetor from 2007. Whats a realistic labour cost? Thanks.

My 2000 Bullet`s main bearings went west a couple of weeks before the warranty ended. Estimated cost about $1000 AUS to dealer. Crankcase bearing housing had also been chewed up had to be built-up and re-machined. Just a rough estimate, inflation etc is anybody`s guess.

a couple of winters ago my Big end Bearing went south and I took the opportunity to upgrade to our hosts Complete 612 performance kit. The cost was huge $4300 USD but I did all the labor my self and I couldn't be happier with the end result. Just a screaming rocket now and so very reliable. I can even ride on the highways at 65-70 mph with no issues at all.

Im in the process with my iron barrel the drive shaft is a press fit in flywheel and the wheels are easy to take apart 4 bolts cut to slide between flywheels with nuts wound down 2 each side of crankpin about 2 inches apart hold bolt head and wind nuts up a little bit at a time you need to take lock screw out and crankpin nuts 7/8 whitworth I think ifyou cant undo them local service centre will have a rattle gun after that its just like a big lawnmower engine
Bearings and seals cost $140 from bearing supply house piston $333 rocker boxes samrat new oil pump spindle and nut and conrod $370 I had spare bush and crankpin on hand. Helps if you put a square across both wheels before dismanteling as a referance for reassembly.need to make sure you get all the crap out of passages oil lines etc. Good luck have a go at it.
