I'm happy to use whatever forum our hosts see fit to provide, but on other forums there's usually the option to use emoticons to express feelings, it can be very easy for folks to read something into a posting that was not intended, emoticons help to let them know if it's perhaps a little tongue in cheek.

Sorry if I've just sent the ludites into shock,,,,,,,,,,, ( see, a little smiley face might have helped there),,,,,,,,

Cure for the time-out?
Easy.
If you know you are going to post a long message, write it in Word (or any word processor) then copy and paste into the forum.
Simples.

Please leave the website as it is. A lot of us are vintage Royal Enfield specialists and not computer experts. I think that Hitchcocks have done a fine job and must leave well alone. Roy

Write a long message, highlight it and copy (Ctrl-C), post and it times-out, log in again, paste back into the box (Ctrl-V) and post.

Roy - the point of wishing for something a little more modern is to make it easier for the less computer-literate to use, not change for the sake of it.

Jefrs. Changes to the forum do not make it easier for some people, even if the new system is "easier to use"
For non-computer literate people it just means they have to learn another way of doing things.
I teach people basic computing and this is something that comes up again and again.
You might argue that by learning a new system they are becoming more computer literate but the point is - they don't want to. They just want things to stay the same.

"They just want things to stay the same."

As soon as I've sharpened my quill I'm going to try and think of a witty response to that,,,,,,,,,,,,,
