It's an Enfield - the whole bikes badly wrong ;) ;) ;)

I've a 100/90 tyre on the rear, and a 90/90 tyre on the front and with two straight edges alongside the bike touching the rear tyre fore and aft I get a 5mm gap either side of the front tyre fore and aft and the bike tracks beautifully :)

I think the answer to the disparity might be because one of the swinging arm 'arms' is approx 10mm shorter than the other, or perhaps it's somewhere else completely!
Fortunately the snail cams still function as intended even though they're positioning is so aesthetically wrong. But it certainly emphasises the point of not relying on the position of the snail cam notches for accurate wheel alignment.

Exile, perhaps if I had wanted a faster bike I would have got a faster bike. Tuning it is about making it more enjoyable to ride, that it did but also gained a fair amount of useful mid-range torque. Personally I'm happy with its top speed of about 80mph, which is limited by its gearing. It gets to 70 quick enough but I don't get much of a thrill from riding at high speed, been there...

As for world speed records, a Royal Enfield currently owns the 500MPPS (modified pushrod partially streamlined) land speed record at 97.67mph

Back in 1969 a naked Mk11 Inter was timed at Bonneville at 158.126 mph (AA750)

At the risk of opening up the whole "how fast will it go" debate I'm with Exile on this one. Surely we don't ride Enfield's for speed?. My 193bhp Ducati Paningale accelerates like a missile, my BSA D7 Bantam is flat out at45. So why do I love them both but ride my 500 Electra more?
Empty country lanes, a warm day and a single thumping away, perfect.
I put my iPhone on my bars as a speedo, my 350 Bullet reads 60 mph on the clock at a true 47mph, my 500 reads 60 at a true 53. MyBantam reads 60 at 43 and my Ducati reads 100 at 100, it was a little more expensive!!! Try it you will be surprised and it makes you realise that frankly we don't have a clue "how fast" it goes.
Type Wheels Sleaford into YouTube, I have posted some vids you may enjoy.?

This old thread has re-opened with some worthwhile comments. I completely agree about the (counter-intuitive!) pleasure to be had from riding a Bullet. There are a number of roads in mid-Wales that for many years I have ridden on a very wide variety of machines. By far the most enjoyable rides were on my 350 Bullet! I’m not sure why this was so. I suppose I could try to analyse why – but about the fact I’ve no doubt. (I only wish I still had it!)
