Hi Tim, I suppose you could describe Ural carbs as 'basic', to say the least! When these machines were new and needed running in, there would be a nail like thing protruding downwards from the carb top, to stop the 'slide' lifting more than about 1/3 of the way. Once run in, you snapped them off to enable the throttles to open fully, to make use of full 'power' and the manual also told you to remove the swarf from inside the rocker covers at the first service interval. Makes the Indian Enfields seem very refined! Regards, Paul.
