NEW DELHI: Royal Enfield design director, Pierre Terblanche, has reportedly quit the Chennai-based motorcycle manufacturer after a short stint of 20 months.

The 60-year-old designer, who has previously worked with companies like Volkswagen, joined Royal Enfield in November 2014 and was based out of company's England office.

As reported by an industry magazine, the exact reason behind him leaving the company is still not clear. Pierre has designed motorcycles like Ducati Multistrada, HyperMotard, X132 Hellcat Speedster to name a few. He has also worked with the famous Massimo Tamburini an Italian designer behind MV Augusta, Ducati, Cagiva.

Maybe his ideas were sa bit too advanced for the indian manufactures still basiclly following on from redditch ideas . If brit bikes were so great how come they dont make em still. Look at bsa a modern looking bike never went into production still pumped out the same old stuff, see where that got them got to move with the times.

In my opinion, retro sells. Royal Enfield seems to appeal to a certain market (Doing very well at it I hasten to add). So, if you start designing bikes that are outside the Companies desired ethos (and the designs are consistently rejected), then your position at that Company becomes untenable.
