Crikey guys, just one question: why the hell would you want to change gear without using the clutch? What are you trying to achieve versus any potential harm you might cause?

It's like the other thread running about clutch drag - why would you want to sit at the lights with the bike in gear?

Jeez guys, I meant changing UP through the gears, not down again afterwards!
I find closing the throttle & almost simultaneously snicking into the next higher gear before opening the throttle again is a piece of the proverbial but not the other way (Down!)

Whilst I do normally use the clutch, I've used clutch-less up-changes on cars and bikes for the last 40+years. On a car synchromesh you can feel it snick in as the speeds match, on a bike's constant mesh you just reduce throttle to unload the gears whilst easing the gear lever and you feel it slip over. The trick is unloading the gear cogs so they disengage and can slip over without stressing the gearbox.

It is a bit of an acquired taste, don't rush it, it's not a race bike.
