"No predictable shelf life" means they have a shelf life but they cannot predict how long they can sit on the shelf /before use/.

Tyres in storage should be stood on their treads and rotated from time to time, at least that's how the MoD do it.

Tyre that have been used on a bike and then left in a shed to 20 years? - wouldn't consider using them.

So they have a shelf life but nobody knows what it is.
Very useful, thanks Michelin.

I recently had the 15-year-old Bridgestone tyres on the Mazda replaced, still had plenty of tread on them. SOB! Minute cracks starting to show.

Oh! and another thing, If you have to worry about the cost of fitting new tyres, you can`t afford to keep the bike. Or as Rolls Royce say, "If you have to ask the price, you can`t afford the car."

The question of age related tyre safety is one thing I don't have to worry about!

I've already put three new tyres on my 2015 registered EFI. One for the front, two for the rear, and the latest one on the rear if it hasn't worn out beforehand (unlikely) will be replaced in preparation for the winter weather.

ric - may I ask why you have replaced those new tyres? Was there some fault or defect?

scotty - Avon are one of the few brands that are actually Made in England (unlike Dunlop) and are not fitted to 'domestic' models.

I am considering Avon TrailRider tyres as they are All Season (M&S). Has anyone used these http://www.avon-tyres.co.uk/motorcycle/trailrider

A rear 120/80-18 is no problem. But will a 105mm wide 100/90-19 fit through the Classic front mudguard?

Jefrs I suspect Ric actual rides his bike and wears the tyres out.

Thanks to everyone who commented on tyres.
Bike will stay in shed until new fitted.

papasmurf - I actually ride my bike too. True I've only put 2000 miles on them in less than a year but I've only had one car that could scrub a set of tyres in less than 15,000 miles and that was an AMG, not funny for PilotSport LoPros at £250 each. I can understand swapping out Skidmasters though, I always thought the rear went square too quickly.

The stock type on the C5 is the RoadRider which is a decent grippy tyre but it's not M&S. I've taken to running the cars on M&S tyre and the winter and wet grip is a huge improvement.

My bike does get ridden on some very poor loose surfaces where the RoadRiders sometimes go a bit squirrely. So I was wondering about a more enduro-like M&S (muck & snot) tyre like the TrailRider.

Has anyone used the Avon TrailRider on a Bullet/Classic ?
