I had a Canterbury Carmobile on a Super Meteor some years ago. If I recall correctly (and it was a long time ago!)the solid wheel and tyre were the same size as Citroen 2CV.

Hope this helps

I just checked and the 2CV tyre appears to be a 15" so probably unsuitable but the same search throws up the Avon SM in 3.25 x 16 and it appears to be readily available.

Hi Pomps, Canterbury it is. I think the current tyre is a Continentsl that some years back replaced an Avon.
I used what I could get at the time as I suspect you too will have to be doing.

Pomps, I know someone who used a Mitas on a sidecar and found out it wore out very quickly, too soft a compound. While this would be ok on a solo, it didn't work on an outfit.

Had heard good things of Mitas for solo use but if as Mark says too soft a compound for the thrashing a sidecar tyre gets then you'd best look elsewhere. Did I see Avon SM at 16" ? Will look later when more time available.

Personally if a 3.50x16 tyre would fit, I would use that size. More choice plus far heavier duty and higher weight limit plus more longevity.
(My Velorex sidecar has one fitted and I have only changed that once due to the amount of time it had been on the sidecar not because it wore out.)
