I don't know much about bikes just got my first 2009 c5. it rides great I had to take off the seat to fix the seat and noticed this cable with spring end (pictured in link) not attached. first thought was to attach it to the hole nearby but wondering if it may of been disconnected for some reason or if its just come out. also the brass end doesn't seem to fit right in, should it compress while doing up or slide in. sorry probably stupid questions but im a novice to this and have no bike mechanics nearby.

That is not the clutch but the Bi-Starter and it should be attached by screwing it firmly into the threaded hole 2 o'clock from its shown position right behind the injector. It is a 14mm spanner and a right pain to get at. The TPS, MAP, injector connector, throttle body, wiring loom and frame are all in the way

The Bi-Starter works by pulling that 'brass' plug up. Whilst running the plug is supposed to be lowered. With it removed it is like running with the Bi-Starter cold-start jammed on.

No idea where I got 'clutch' from other than some folks carry a spare clutch cable under the tank, oops. The plug won't fit right in because it is on a spring, pull on the Bi-Starter lever to compress it but also check for foreign object in the hole. Loosen the jubilee clip on the throttle body to rotate the lot, you may even need to pull the entire throttle body out, there's not a not of wiggle room. You should check the hole has not been plugged with some ghastly bodge.

Thanks for that. got it back it but ill have to get a new cable the thread on the plastic was mostly stripped off. im guessing the person who put it on last crossthreadedit or tried doing it up to tight

Having replaced the petrol pipe, which is a right pain to fit to the injector, I encountered the Bi-Starter nut in the way which appears to be metal on mine. But access to it is probably better from the left hand side in-situ although the head stay, battery box and TPS connector is well in they way of the 14mm spanner. Spannering it from the right hand side is likely how yours got messed up.
